In memorial for French Queen Marie Antoinette

  1. Do we know who painted this portrait? The queen looks quite modest and studious.

    Poor Marie Antoinette was born at the wrong time and married into the wrong royal family. If her mother had known the Revolution was coming, she should have kept her daughter in Vienna.

  2. Hi the original painting was done by one of my favorite artist Louise Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun. This is a 19th century pastel copy of the original oil portrait. Marie Antoinette is modest and studious in this portrait and is wearing a robe anglais a more comfortable less formal English style dress that she made fashionable in France.
